We worked with Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School to make meaningful updates to their building. We set to work on the project with two goals in mind. The first was to create a modern, cohesive look and feel throughout the shared spaces of the school using natural textures - like wood - and functional signage. The second was to communicate key Catholic values and themes that connect parents, faculty and students to the mission of the school.

We were inspired by stained glass and the geometric line work in midcentury designs. We incorporated these concepts in our illustrations of saints outside of each classroom, as well as a large-scale mural full of icons representing the Mysteries of the Rosary.

Pops of bright color, clean text and geometric iconography combine to make content feel modern and approachable.

At the same time, the neutral color palette and natural wood textures create a warm and inviting feel.

In the main stairwell, we were asked to preserve an existing mural of Our Lady of Fatima. In order to keep this space feeling bright and inviting, we added a modern hoop chandelier and outfitted some of the walls with the same wood paneling used in the hallway. Finally, we wrapped the large cinderblock wall in a floor-to-ceiling vinyl pattern - the Hail Mary Prayer - using a low-contrast blue palete to compliment the warm tones throughout the space.

In addition to the hallway and stairwell, we worked with the Fatima team to completely transform the Teacher’s Lounge into a calm, functional and relaxing space. To see our work on the Fatima Teacher’s Lounge, click here.
